Keep that holiday glow long after you’ve come home, with these quick tips to maintain your fitness while you’re away
You’ve worked hard for your beach body, so don’t let it slip away as soon as you step foot on the plane. We spoke with JJ from Outer Strength Fitness about how to stay fit and healthy whilst away on holiday:
A 30-minute, high-intensity session can burn anywhere from 200-500 calories. By working out at a decent intensity most days, you won’t need to worry so much about the extra calories that might sneak onto your plate. Try and squeeze in a session – try this one from JJ - at the hotel gym or, going for a run is a great way to explore the area.
2. Never Go to A Restaurant Hungry
We all want to make the most of the buffet however; arriving to your meal hungry is a sure-fire way to overeat. JJ’s tip: drink around 1 litre of water about 20 minutes before you go out. This will take the edge off your hunger and help you make rational choices when faced with an array of delicacies.
3. Watch Your Portion Sizes
Opting for self-catering is a great way to remain in control of your food choices and meal preparation. Unfortunately, it also becomes an invitation to snack on cheese and biscuits while you’re cooking. Controlling your temptations and the amount you eat will help you stay fit and healthy.
4. Adjust Your Calorie Beverages
Holidays are meant to be enjoyed. But if you’re truly motivated not to undo all your hard work, it’s best to substitute the wine, beer and sugary drinks for a lower calorie option. Try a vodka soda or, if a cocktail by the pool is more your vibe, go for a refreshing mojito.
