Life is too short not to indulge. And what’s not to love about indulging in pasta? Pasta is versatile, easy to cook with and – far from popular belief can be as nutritious as it is tasty. So on Wednesday 25th October 2017, we’ll be joining the rest of the world and celebrating World Pasta Day.
Originating in Rome, Italy in 1995, the day of pasta is all about indulging in the simple pleasures of life. And there is no better place to enjoy World Pasta Day than at Pasta Pantry at the MLC Centre. Be it linguini, farfalle, fusilli or good old-fashioned spaghetti, you are bound to find fresh, quality ingredients to satisfy your appetite and warm your soul at Pasta Pantry.

Mushroom, Bacon & Olive Oil Pasta
250 grams Rummo spiral pasta
300 grams sliced mushrooms
4 tablespoons olive oil
200 grams chopped bacon
1 sliced onion
2 cloves of crushed garlic
Salt and cracked pepper to taste
3 tablespoons chopped parsley
Parmesan cheese to taste
Cook pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water, until aldente (as per cooking instructions).
Heat a large fry pan on medium to high heat, pour in 1 tablespoon of olive oil and sliced mushrooms, cook until mushrooms have a slight golden colour and have released all moisture. Set mushrooms aside.
In the same pan, heat 80ml of olive oil, add sliced onion and cook for 5-8 minutes, then add bacon and cook for a further 3 minutes.
Add garlic, and cook for a further 2 minutes. Return mushrooms to the pan, add salt and cracked pepper and parsley and mix well.
Finally, add pasta and toss until it is well coated and serve with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese.
