How to reach 10,000 steps at the MLC Centre
Keeping fit is far from a chore at MLC Centre. Skip the gym, ditch your active-wear and give the lunch-time jog a pass – we’ve devised a new way to sneak in your daily 10,000 steps that’s no work and all play. It begins with breakfast, a wholefoods-spiked smoothie from Thr1ve, say, or a shot of espresso with a pastry from Urban Barrel. Then comes the hard yakka – if you can call it that. Travel upstairs to the fashion precinct, where a host of luxury stores await your perusing. Refresh your wardrobe with some contemporary Italian threads from Brunello Cucinelli. Need shoes to match? The good folk at Rodd and Gunn will happily send you off with a fine pair. Ladies might want to swing by Jimmy Choo, or scope out the new season’s looks at Anna Thomas, Carl Kapp or Von Troska.
Work up another sweat with a stroll around the centre on Castlereagh Street, taking in the energy of the city before re-entering on King Street and replenishing your caffeine stores at MLC Grind. While you’re on Level 6, buy the paper, book your next holiday or pick up the dry-cleaning, then progress to the food court with its sleek timber-lined ceiling and flooding natural light. Lunch poses a challenge: traditional gözleme, pan-cooked schnitzel, or a wholesome vegan bowl? You could spend hours – and hundreds of steps – deciding.
Re-stretch your legs at the Martin Place entrance, taking a moment to appreciate the late architect Harry Seidler’s bold, magnetic lines. Walk up the stairs, peer down into the into the buzzing open-aired dining precinct and marvel at the striking tower itself, before wrapping up at Ambar with snacks and a well-deserved cocktail. Workout complete.
