Raise your steins in celebration of the biggest beer festival in the world
It’s October, and that means around the world, Germans and Bavarian enthusiasts will be donning their dirndls or lederhosen and raising their steins in celebration of the 3-week festival of Oktoberfest.
Oktoberfest originated in Munich in 1810 in celebration of the marriage of the Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. Over 200 years later, the event is the world’s largest festival of beer and funfair, attracting 6 million tourists to Munich every year.
In Australia, we join in the fun by relishing the many activities and events in bars, restaurants and parks in the month of October. Sydneysiders can head to the Domain for Oktoberfest In The Gardens 2017 on Sunday, 28th October for a tasting experience of imported German, beer, cider and wine. A 20-piece brass band, yodelers and roving accordion players will give attendees a taste of Bavarian music.
At the MLC Centre, you can head to Eden to enjoy a fresh cold beer on their sunny verandah, and with happy hour every weekday between 5-7pm, you won’t need an excuse to start celebrating.
