Drop your pre-loved menswear to the MLC Centre and change a man’s path
This month, the MLC Centre supports Suit of Change, an initiative that sets out to transform the personal journeys of disadvantaged men.
Suit of Change is the brainchild of Mark Ferguson, founder of bespoke tailoring company, Wil Valor, Mark knows firsthand the benefits of well fitting, colour-coordinated tailoring for when a man needs to look his best.
With more than 12 years in the fashion industry and having fitted around 3000 clients, his client list includes the likes of KISS rocker Paul Stanley, US music heavyweight Nile Rodgers, TV presenters and CEOs.
Mark says: ’93 per cent of communication is non-verbal’. When underprivileged men need to make a good first impression, such as in a job interview, their disadvantage is compounded by being unable to access quality garments. With his extensive experience as a tailor and outfitter, Mark decided to share his passion and skills with men who needed a helping hand, particularly refugees and men struggling with homelessness.
And so begun Suit of Change. The initiative is gaining momentum with hundreds of suits, ties, shirts, shoes, belts and cufflinks being donated. Not only does the initiative co-ordinate donated items, they also train volunteers as stylists to work with the men who receive these items. They carry out alterations if needed to ensure a good fit, and arrange free haircuts and grooming. The stylists at Suit of Change are thrilled when they witness the confidence boost a quality outfit gives to a man.
The MLC Centre is proud to support Suit of Change and we invite you to drop off your good condition pre-loved menswear.
