Post-Workout Summer Smoothies

Just finished a workout and need to replenish your body? Here’s a delicious, goodness-packed smoothie to restore your body and give you the energy to get through the day. 

It’s February, and that means it’s a great time for fresh fruit. Juicy peaches, flavour-filled strawberries, mouth-watering watermelon and healthy blueberries are just a few of the tasty treats that are in season right now.
 
February is also the month where, fresh from holidays, we’re upping our fitness ante. If you’ve just had a workout, a healthy smoothie with fresh fruit and Greek yoghurt is a great way to give your body the nutrients it needs. The natural sugars in fruits will help restore glycogen levels in the muscles and replace lost carbs. And most yogurts contain protein and fat, both of which will help repair muscles and reduce inflammation. Add a little ginger – known to be an anti-inflammatory – and you’ll be raring to race through your day.

Post-Workout Smoothie
 
Ingredients:
1 cup chopped peaches
½ cup strawberries
1 cup pears or pear juice
2 tablespoons thick Greek yoghurt
½ teaspoon finely grated ginger
 
Method:
Pop in a blender, and blend until smooth. Pour into a cup, and enjoy!
