ANZ, in partnership with MLC Centre launch street art project!

MLC Centre is excited to partner with ANZ to launch a street art project that will see large scale murals appear on unused walls across Sydney, recognising local people with stories to tell.
Celebrated street artist Luke Cornish (AKA E.L.K.) will be portraying Anglican Parish Priest, Father Dave Smith, on the MLC Centre wall facing Martin Place.
A record-breaking boxer, parish priest and inspiring local, ‘Fighting’ Father Smith has been at it for more than two decades and shows no sign of slowing. Now, the man who holds the record for 120 rounds in the ring and who has helped hundreds of disadvantaged youth will be immortalised by the Archibald finalist artist.
Luke Cornish (ELK) became the first stencil artist to become a finalist in the prestigious Archibald Prize. Previously, he has awarded the Australian Stencil Art Prize in 2010 (as well as runner-up in 2009) and was a finalist for the 2011 Metro Art Award.
“I knew straight away that Father Dave is the person I wanted to paint for this project,” says Cornish.
“Street art is a gift to the people – something to brighten up their day.”
The MLC Centre mural is a part of a wider initiative, which will see murals painted across four other destinations in Sydney. The initiative celebrates local people for what they care about the most and the difference they have made to the community at large.
Alongside Father Dave Smith, other honourees include, Katherine Hudson, a passionate advocator of gay and lesbian rights, Jenny Munro, who founded Redfern’s Aboriginal Tent Embassy, and footballer Nathan Hindmarsh, who advocates for the end of violence towards women through his association with White Ribbon.
Be sure to make it down to the MLC Centre Martin Place and share your experience on social media with the hashtag #InspiringLocals.
nd stay in the lobby for a period of five weeks.

The event will include opportunity to consult with an Artist and discuss their work, accompanied by wine and nibbles.
